Hey guys and girls!
I am just a Scooby enthusiast from Slovenia, driving WRX '04 for a years now, but feel it should be time for change it next year, although I am 100% pleased with it! Very interested in wagon Legacy/Liberty GT, it gets me crazy every time when I just look some pics over the net or on this forum... It is self-torturing actually. So I am here to collect as much infos as I can about these cars, tuning capabilities, driveability comparing to WRX and hopefully import it next year or so from Japan. Then all bureaucracy is waiting for me, possible RHD to LHD conversion and so on to get it on the road... But will put all my effort in it, as the wish is very strong.

A good starting base is to import one from a country which has the correct driving position (USDM is LHD for example), then you just need to worry about the environmental compliance for your region. A much easier conversion than a full R to L or L to R conversion.

Hard to go past the MY09 Liberty GT Spec B or the Liberty GT tuned by STI version in my opinion. You can get these in both manual and auto in Australia (all RHD models) Not sure about other country's.

I drive a Liberty 3.0R and a recently developed Supercharging Kit has been developed by Raptor. These kits will make the 3.0R worthy of consideration for your next project car as the 3.0R has a lower base price than the GT with similar equipment levels. They also come Sedan and Wagon in Spec B (which has the 18-inch wheels and Bilstein suspension and an STI 6sp manual gearbox is Australia).

Anyway, welcome to the forum and when you do get a Liberty, start a project thread so we can all share in the excitement of your build.

Thanks libsti! Prices for 03-04 WRX would be about 11.000-16.000 eur, depends on condition and car's "reputation" as in pocket country with a few Imprezas, it is not hard to know what is going on about these cars and in what shape are they.

As I know, USDM is the only market with LHD GT Libertys. I was already thinking in that way, the easiest actually. But there are some concerns... Wagons with manual tranny have been made only in 2005 and 2006 (USDM) but I am thinking more about 07-09MY. Also wider choice in Japan and cars generally have low miles, can't forget twin scroll and great prices of course.

3.0R might be worth to take into account, especially because they are available all over the EU. Hmm, turbo kit, seems interesting. Will look on this Raptor company.

To sum up, Japan prices are cheap as hell, it is just a question how much I would need to invest into in total, to have a proper, legal car on the road.

Welcome - it might still be cheaper to buy the LHD auto Legacy from USA with a transmission in the container, and do the transmission conversion that way

Actually probably much of a muchness. By the time you ditch the ugly front and rear bumpers on the US model, it'd still be painful
