A reason to end the lurking

So the car is officially (thankfully) mine now! Brother in law made the exchange yesterday afternoon and got to spend two hours in peak hour traffic travelling 50km At least he had a good car to spend it in. Now for the weekend and the trip to Sydney to get it! And to pry the keys from his fingers...

Watch out for the cameras on the Hume between Wandong and Kalkallo...

They are supposedly switched off ( http://www.3aw.com.au/blogs/3aw-generic ... 1866m.html ) but it pays to be cautious!

Having travelled the Hume plenty of times i'm well aware of the cameras, but without having fallen victim (touch wood). Regardless of whether the cameras are on or off, speeding to get there a little bit quicker just isn't worth it and will be making full use of the cruise control (I gather the speedo is going to be pretty accurate, but will test against the GPS just in case!). Besides, there are bound to be highway patrol cars hiding at various points along the way. I've proudly held all my points for many years now, but not before learning a lesson the hard way.

Will need to get myself some stickers now..

The speedo in mine is 9% out.. ie: 100 on dash = 91 in real life.. there is a thread on here about it...

Good point. Cheers for that. Did a search and found what you mentioned. GPS got me from Melbourne to Canberra and back without any tickets (gti speedo is way out the wrong way), so should be safe to go by that. Can't wait!

Made the trip home safely, but not before putting 2L of oil in the engine (not impressed when there was no oil visible on the dipstick!), topping up the other fluids (coolant was below low, too) and pumping up the tyres. Love the car and glad to be home...not impressed with the detour from the Hume due to flooding. Especially being on the home stretch, only to have another half hour added! Tired and ready for bed. Now for roadworthy and rego tomorrow.

Glad your back.. I had to take mine through water yesterday.. It was very very tedious, but it was a 15km trip back and then finding another way. So i went for it.

Absolutely loving the car and is such a joy to drive. Best decision ever! Only needed two tyres for roadworthy and she was good to go. Gave her a quick wash yesterday to get rid of the bugs (one good point to it raining most of the way) and can't stop grinning like an idiot. I love my car
