Any news on the intake being available yet. I am keen to get one and might as well order it with the raptor headers.

Today I have received stock of RAM AIR INTAKE

I can take 3 orders

I am of the belief I should start with the taking of orders from scratch since it has been so long coming, some will have moved on to another car or whatever

First come - first served

I thought it was about time I posted an update on the Ram Air kit that was fitted to my car last year.
Some of you might recall that I had the Ram Air fitted and Matt from Kido_tune did a custom dyno tune on it back in October last year, well I just had Matt do a re-tune on it yesterday and I must say I’m impressed! The initial tune was compromised as in it was the first tune for a 05 H6 running the 512kb ECU and at the time of the dyno tune it was low on fuel in the tank which made Matt’s job a lot harder as the lack of fuel pressure caused all sorts of weird AF ratios. Well yesterdays re-tune is like chalk and cheese to the first tune which was running rich and over the last 6 months or so the fuel consumption was high (obviously with the rich AF ratios) and there was an unusual idle at start up and when hot which at times made the engine stall. The re-tune has fixed all that, the idle now is stable, the fuel consumption at this early stage looks like it has improved but the power delivery now is fantastic! It has a surge from 3000rpm all the way to redline that pushes you back into the seat and does not what to drop off. I’m going to say it’s very similar to an E36 M3 BMW in the way it climbs up the rev range and the sound of the exhaust and intake together makes the H6 really scream. I have to say that it’s a big improvement on before and it is what I expected to feel after the first tune but didn’t get, now it’s just fantastic.
I will monitor it’s performance and economy over the next few months and post up another update but for the moment I’m very happy.
Big thanks to Matt for the development of the tune and of course to Tim from Raptor for his development of performance parts for the H6 engine.
I just wish Matt had not told me about the E85 tune he has for my car!

Rob

Great feed back - mine goes very hard too, I think if you Dyno now you will see the increased output

Top marks to Matt, this kind of thing isn't always easy the first couple of times but I would safely say he is all over it now

I have a complete Stage 4 in stock ready for shipping this week - seems like the time to mention it

I was not sure how E85 would go with the new Raptor Ram Intake due to the added airflow... after spending most of last night analysing the data... pretty sure I can have E85 ready for it :)

Rob: cheers for that review of the CAI, hugely appreciated.
Basically that pushed me over the edge on getting it. Will post results up here when I've fitted it.

Tim,

Hopefully soon I will see how it goes. Been recommending your products to USA customers.

Righto, thought I'd post a quick update on how things are going. I received the intake yesterday around 11am NZ time (Wednesday) and when lunch time came around, went and installed it (I took the stock intake out in the morning before work).

FOREWORD
I've got the intake installed with these mods already:
- Raptor headers
- High flow cats (100cell - I don't recommend 100 cell by the way)
- Custom center pipe
- Xforce catback

So entire exhaust system is basically free flow, not an ounce of the original exhaust in place.
Car was also tuned before the intake (nine revisions including minor revisions).

SHIPPING/PACKAGING
Shipping was really fast, arrived into NZ from Australia quicker than some shipping within NZ. All items were very well wrapped and protected. Heaps of bubble wrap.

FIRST THOUGHTS/BUILD QUALITY
First thoughts were f**k that is HUGE. The intake diameter is over 100mm. Build quality is very good, the paint work is top notch. Very impressed.

INSTALLATION
Install is simple as pie:

- Install metal shield assembly
- Connect silicon pipe
- Connect intake pipe with MAF mount
- Connect filter
- Bolt on the top of the metal assembly

Photos of install at:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/tyron-d67 ... 199197870/

Really simple install and everything fits smoothly. Install points are the bolt behind the headlight and on the power steering mount.

TUNING
Tuning is currently ongoing, but I've had three updates already from Ed and car is running awesome right now. Will post more when the tuning is done, but right now am very impressed. I think there is more power and loving the intake/engine sounds! Might be just me, but I think it has changed the tone of the exhaust.

I also haven't done a good decent drive along my usual routes and only have done the usual idle, cruise and gear pull tests. Will know more by the weekend on the general feel.

CURRENT THOUGHTS
Well worth it. The build quality is very good, definitely looks good in the engine bay and is professional. Loving the change already to the engine. Tim is top notch with customer service and answering queries as usual. Tuning is going through Ed (XRT) and he's super helpful as well and a pleasure to deal with. He knows his way around the Subaru engines!
