I'm in too.
Looks great.
But does this now mean i need more exhaust mods to get rid of the extra on the intake?

A couple of updates

1. Manufacturing of the next batch hasnt yet happened, expecting to be starting on them Friday this week. Updates on the supply of finished RAM kits will be made public here

2. 666 had his vehicle fitted with RAM INTAKE today and tuned by Matt

I would like you all to hear the thoughts of tuner and owner

In hottish conditions against quite a few dyno runs the improvement of the RAM INTAKE under those conditions was 7kw (9.3hp) - That is from the Intake alone being fitted and then tuned in. I would say under better temperature conditions the power increase will peak in the 9-10kw range max.

As posted by Tim earlier this week the Raptor Ram Air Intake was fitted and tuned by Matt on my car, a 2005 Spec.B manual.

Over two hours was spent on the dyno with Matt loading and adjusting various maps with the final result being an improvement of around 7Kw ATW. I was expecting (hoping) a little more but all things considered a gain like that on a NA engine is good. I'm not too familiar with Mainline Dynos, which is the one Matt tuned it on, but I do have a very reliable dyno that I used earlier this year for a base reading and I will be taking it back there for a more accurate test soon.

Fitting of the intake is simple with most of the time needed to remove the OEM airbox. The ram air tube is very smooth internally and a huge improvement over the stock intake tube. A Drift pod filter is used and the fit and finish is quite good. The air box is in a black wrinkle finish and fits well into the tight space of the OEM air box. A removable lid is on top to allow easy access to the filter for maintenance.

First impressions are that intake noise at idle is not much louder than before. Seat of the pants tells me that there is a willingness to rev quickly, quicker than before, and that at the VVT point it has more torque. 3800rpm to 7200rpm is over in a blink of an eye, meaning for a fast upshift to the next gear. Intake noise at revs is again not too apparent as your dealing with road/wind noise but a bystander may hear it working if not the driver. Fuel economy is too early to quote but I will post that over the next couple of re-fills.

Overall the intake has given a little more Kw's but it's biggest benefit is in the driveability, it now feels stronger and more flexible across the rev range and that makes for a more enjoyable drive. These are great engines, smooth, flexible and enjoyable to drive and any improvement on that is a bonus.

Where does the maf sensor sit on that new piping? How much would a kit set one back?

Thanks.

The MAF sensor sits on the underside of the intake tube. You can just see it in the second image, directly in front of the brake master cylinder.

Thanks for your patience

Here is the evidence extra 7Kw of power you can gain with the RAM intake

Car was also unfortunately dyno'd with the fuel light on(was not aware til it was being loaded on dyno), so despite the dyno results torque curve not being smooth, it is smooth in real life. This was due to the Fuel Pressure Regulator and low fuel level affecting the car, inlet manifold pressure directly afffects the fuel pressure regulator so on paper the gain is minimal, in real life with a half tank of fuel, the difference is much more. We alsso had some serious heatsoak in the runs due to over 40 dyno runs performed.

450Nm of torque at 4400rpm, 360Nm@3200rpm and 6600rpm which really shows the gains possible :)

Adam from JEM is even considering a H6 for his wifes new car after sampling what the H6 can do!

It wasnt overly long ago that such a thought wasnt really possible to entertain .......... 450Nm at 4400rpm absolutely golden for a NA 3.0
