Re: Raptor Performance CAI - You decide

Well, I am back to having to rerun all the tests again

This latest result is almost the opposite of the earlier results

The CAI is still up 4kw at end of run instead of 8kw

The low end is up a LOT

This chart of the CAI curve feels right in the drivers seat, but are we suddenly smashing the low end power (BLUE LINE) this much?? 20Nm gain at 3000 rpm over a stock pull - WT...

The runs were both perfect world stuff, but why the stock is charting up so much differently to the first chart I put up - no idea.

When we overlay the CAI runs 1 and 2, the top end is identical but with a super fat bottom end/mid.

Time for more stock runs and more CAI runs too

@Tradewind

I just have to say that I'm a fan of that result. :D

I run a stock manual MY09 3RB and want to minimise NVH while making it more satisfying to drive. And "satisfying" for me means a super fat low/mid range + refined 911 induction noise + more freely revving (breathing?) to 7,000. Gaining "only" 4kw at the top end is fine if I get all that.

I know this differs slightly from your original purpose which is to make max power + refined 911 induction sound. But since I spend 90% of my driving in the 2,000 to 4,000 range....I just want to enjoy surfing the torque waves through shorting shifting, V8 style. The beauty of the H6 compared to V8s (old skool ones at least) is that if you want to party above 4,000 it'll do that too. I wonder how many H6 pilots out there would have this preference as well?

That's my driving style too :good: usually rev to around 5k when you want to be happy but I like short shifting too  :P

That power increase is measely at best, but the torque coming on that much sooner is definitely a winner. Nice tune up

Loving the dedication and the regular updates :)

I got caught out the other day as the thing hit fuel cut when I was overtaking. The top end is strong enough for me but fatter torque down low would make an awesome car even better.

Keep up the good work!

The fuel tank is slowly emptying, will make some more runs when its near to same load as previous tests

Then after those runs its back to stock for more runs

More logs today - 1 of each - stock vs CAI

Confused at moment - will test them again when I get back from leave.

NA mods are hard work!

Update

I am likely to send the intake to a 3rd party for independent testing/evaluation. Discussion with the 3rd party has taken place

My own test results on the CAI were far too variable - I need to see consistency just as I would with any other product I bring to market.

I am suspecting my H6 to be part of the problem in this instance hence reason for testing at another location/another vehicle

YES - there are discussions behind the scene with persons relevant to development of a product such as this.

2nd party testing will begin soon
