The latest shipment of headers is pretty much sold out

We are changing manufacturers, SS headers V2.0 coming up, about 40 days away.

The same performance, making further improvements to appearance and finish

Something amazing has happened and already the SAMPLE Version 2.0 of the well known header is ready.

I very happily present you the following image/s. The eagle eyed types will easily spot the difference

What's the recommended exhaust setup with these?
2.5" all the way through? or narrowing slightly towards the rear like the stock system?

Yes that's entirely the good plan, no need to narrow the mid, just split it at the back as normal and you are good to go. If you don't want drone, then add a muff up the front where you bring left and right together into the single 2.5" mid

So something like the XForce catback system should work well? Probably worth adding an additional muffler though to quell the drone. Nobody likes drone

Tim, do you know what the ETA is on a new batch of headers? With the exchange rate to the NZ$ being so good, it could be time to get sorted.

We are 2 weeks into the 4 week manufacturing period - I reckon about 3.5 weeks from today

Had to replace the flange gaskets on the rear cans (silencer) connections today - they had deteriorated over time

While I had the silence removed I made a video that will definitely help people who are trying to figure out why a new system they have installed has drone.

My car has the Raptor headers, everthing else stock. I removed the rear can and made the video, its 100% clear to see that Subaru are achieving 95% their sound reduction in the mid section of the exhaust. With headers fitted and rear silencers removed its still well muffled for open pipe. The XFORCE systems most likely have no muffling in the mid section which is giving some owners with modded exhausts a headache - literally

For good sound attenuation - you need muffling in your mid section - biased more towards front than rear even is better too

Enjoy the revelation.

I noticed the same thing.

I even took mine for a drive without the rear mufflers (rest of the exhaust was standard) before I fitted the headers, it made me wonder why the mufflers were even there.
Apart from a very efficient factory straight through centre muffler, there must be some dampening of the exhaust carried out by the cats. I should try it again now the third cat is gone and the headers are on.

Why the hell are the rear mufflers so big? Seems pointless really.

Definitely agree. I would definitely follow the Subaru idea, handle all the noise attenuation in the mid section and do what you like at the back - almost.

I have been advocating a muffler right up front just behind the cats for a long time - kills drone totally and gives great exhaust note.

Yep.

Back in the day I had a Gemini wagon with an 'improved' G180 running headers and a full 2' system. Initially I mounted a hotdog just after the collector and an offset muffler just in front of the rear axle.
The drone was out of this world. I was forced to fit a straight through glass packed muffler after the axle which solved the problem. In hindsight I should have reversed the hotdog and the straight through muffler. Live and learn I suppose.....
