Tim,

Can you confirm the boost pressure of the 58mm pulley?

Cheers,

~9.5-10psi measured at the supercharger outlet

That is assuming the airfilter is 100% CLEAN, and engine/SC belt in good condition and no system leaks.

Thanks Tim.

Can only manage 8psi at the moment, have tested for leaks and all looks good. Replaced the filter only last week so the only thing it could be is the belt and possible slippage.

Are the belts readily available at Repco or Supercheap?

That is a manifold reading that you are seeing.

I forgot to mention the RPM, 6100-6200rpm actual.

I recall in it's previous installation a reading of 9+ psi was obtained (check with Matt). You now have a smaller pulley, it can hardly be less psi, that's what I am thinking. Should be more than 9ps even on other pulley. Is filter correct size?

How can it make 9psi on the stock pulley?
I've read Mark's build thread quite a few times and it struggled to make 7psi.

New pod filter was sourced from SCA and is the exact same as what was supplied with the kit.

Send me a log, its only the base tune still so we can check for issues before going all out on it again

Cam overlap effects peak boost as well since we wwant air in the cylinder, not being blown out the exhaust ports ;)

As Matt says - he will sort it

The final tune on the previous car was definitely 9+ psi, on all prior tunes it was 7ish.

With current pulley it ultimately can't be less once it's fully tuned up

The filter brand I use in the kits isn't an item sold by SCA, I go with the SAAS item as I have for the past 10 years. Probably similar factory but I doubt that, heaps of factory's making them all just slightly different

I've used 4 different brands including the SAAS from Tim and found the filter has very little effect on peak boost, and to completely rule out a filter flow problem did a test run sans filter with no noticeable difference, measurements were read simultaneously from RomRaider and AEM boost gauge logs, and calibrated against an analogue gauge.

I get 11.1psi max at 7100rpm on a 53.9mm pulley, although I expected to see about 12psi through extrapolation.

Matt, I didn't know the cam overlap would affect it so much. I suppose that's been well tweaked on mine by now.

btw, I dont recommend ~ 55mm pulleys and 7000rpm+ often, I ripped up one belt during a tuning session with Matt about 18mth ago @15deg on a 55.3mm, and another at a track day in Nov/38 deg on the current 53.9mm.

I now aim for 6500rpm max gear changes but usually lower, along with the billet impeller upgrade after the last belt break, good for low and mid rpm boost.

For anyone who's interested attached is a log from my boost/AFR gauge.
You'll need software to read it, from here http://www.aemelectronics.com/products/ ... s-software
Also attached is my program template if you want a basic program view.
Had to zip them to upload here, so you'll need to unzip

Here is an old YouTube link - Raptor VL supercharger - cast impeller, liquid cooled, 58mm pulley. Nothing fancy, all calculations are based from the data/nowledge recorded from this car

When I make a determination of pulley sizes and other parameters I refer to this known data

Interesting, mine was only making 7psi with the 58mm pulley, this is the pressure seen by the 3 bar map sensor in the inlet manifold.

I have checked for leaks found none, changed the BOV. On the dyno runs the pressure has a steady climb but peaks at 7psi at 6700rpm.

Is your rpm max 6700, or is that the point of highest pressure?

Hi Tim, highest pressure achieved was 7.5psi at 7000rpm. Unfortunately the engine then expired but all my testing has only recorded similar readings.

OK, thats interesting. I would have expected more than .5psi rise in the last 300 or so rpm. Is your boost pressure more or less linear or does it flatten towards the high rpm?

You have been working on yours, retuning it etc. Where are you up to with it since you put this question to us?
