I have just moved this whole topic from "3.0R & 3.6R engine specific" to "Raptor Superchargers"

Depends on several other factors, but I got more than 40%. In total from stock, 10% from the old V-tune, then a further 40% on top of that, so all up around 50%. Stock engine torque is 298Nm, pls the 50% would be about 450Nm at the flywheel as an estimate. I still have stock headers, stock CATS and centre section and Y pipe. The only mod I have to the exhaust is HiTech quad tip mufflers. I also do not have the WTA yet and these are coming soon.

If you see in the following link, the torque is abundant and never falls away, it rises continuously providing a mountain of force for forward thrust. An engine with a torque curve that basically never falls away is insanely thrilling to drive

How do people find their fuel economy before & after the SC kit install?
I have a 3.0R Spec B 6spd wagon, stock with a KiDo tune. 171k on the body, 70k on the motor.
Averaging 8-9L/100 freeway and 11-12L/100 city (Newcastle NSW)

I had the clutch replaced around 10,000kms ago, does the stock clutch & driveline handle the power OK or is an upgrade needed? I'm not doing clutch drops but I do give the car some curry from time to time.
Who does a suitable exhaust upgrade (Ideally in Newcastle or Sydney) and what is the cost on this roughly?
I'm trying to get some extra power out of the car but I would like it to remain reasonably quiet (quiet as stock would be great but probably unrealistic).
I'm guessing an engineer cert is needed for this in NSW, is there any hurdles that need to be overcome for this? eg bigger brakes etc?

G'day Ribfeast,
I can only help you with a highly recommended exhaust shop -Newcastle Muffler Service
49 Pacific Hwy, Bennetts Green NSW. I got a quote from them recently to install supplied (Raptor) headers, supplied front 2 high flow cats & delete 3rd cat with 2-1 joiner. Gave a rough quote of $300 as he needs to check how good/bad the headers fit etc. Seems like a no bs kind of bloke with a good rep.
Matt will be in town again from the 5-7th April if you get exhaust done. :D

Cheers :)
I think I have used them before to do twin dump pipes on my old twin turbo cressida, excellent job.
Had a chat to my mechanic about the kit, and he says it would need to pass an IM240 emissions test, not sure how hard this would be to pass but he said since it is a 2006 model it would be quite stringent. Would then need to be engineered - any brake upgrades etc needed to pass engineering?

Fuel economy after a kit was fitted and properly tuned - you are going to have to ask someone like MH3.0R - done a LOT of supercharged Km

If you like to be engineered and passing IM240 - FIRST BIG HINT - leave the exhaust 100% stock in EVERY detail. A customer of ours in Germany has just received his TUV certification for the 3.0 Legacy, extremely tough test and the one thing that kept him from passing was the exhaust system - all of it. You need 100% stock, then tuning it etc isnt overly hard to achieve a pass. I think KiDo could get a clean tune for that without too much stress. The car wont make much power at all but you will pass your test with flying colours, what you do about that issue after you receive your certificate is your business

With brakes etc - check with an engineer has is doing lots of modified car engineering. With the power made on a stock exhaust system there couldnt be much reason for a brake upgrade lol

Does that help ........?

My economy is at 10 litres per 100kms calculated at the pump after each refill. Simple maths really, 430 kms and 43 litres! 550 kms and 55 litres. Been like that since the last tune and dyno run. Matt has achieved the magic with the auto transmission now. Shifts are quick and smooth on normal and mild throttle. WOT runs, it seems to firm up which is nice also.

Dyno figures were 167kw atw and 400nm atw. By my pre sc kit dyno runs, I had 116kw atw and 190nm atw. That provides a transfer efficiency coefficient for my car of 0.64. So to translate to power/torque at the engine, I reckon it is about 280kw and 625nm. More than enough for me thanks! Stock figures are quoted as 180 kw and 298nm, so some real gains.

The sc unit by itself, without any other mods (stock exhaust, and intake) produced 151kw atw on a different dyno.

I still have one of the very first units Tim produced and I have not done any upgrades like the dual belt drive and billet impeller. Have had one service of the sc unit and that is another story.

10L per 100 is impressive considering the power increase! Is that around town, or freeway?
The stock power seems very low? According to KiDo/Matt my stock power went from 180 kw to 210kw (at the engine) after his tune, haven't had it on a dyno though. 167kw at the wheels seems very low for those mods though? Or are the drivetrain losses that great with AWD?
Is it much louder with the exhaust on it?
Did you get it engineered? If I could skip that whole process it would be great, but I'm guessing it won't pass rego then (NSW annual inspections).
What was the cost of the whole process? $6.7k for the kit, $xx for the exhaust/headers etc, $xx for the labour?

Power on a dyno is measured at the wheels (atw) and I did a dyno when the car was stock, so I could use that as a baseline for my mods.

Stock power at the flywheel is 180kw/298nm, but by the time all the losses through the auto transmission, centre diff, front and rear diff are factored in, only 64% actually makes it to the road, so my stock at the wheels power/torque was 116kw/190nm. My estimated power/torque at the flywheel in the current mod state from the last run on the dyno is approx 280kw/625nm. And 10 litres per 100kms is mostly freeway during the week but they are often anything but a freeway!

My build thread is here:

http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=12969

I did a non-intercooled build as stage 1, but the install was crap. Also did the auto transmission rebuild as part of stage 1. In stage 2, I did the WTA, Exhaust and Air Intake prior to the sc unit. I also had the sc unit serviced not long after the stage 2 build.

I recall the video MH had up on the 'tube of his car, there was no doubt the car went very hard, I guess its got more on offer now than it did then........... Sounded the goods too
