As I know this will be extremely useful to others I updated this a bit and then added the loading part as well
TO RETRIEVE A ROM
1. Connect green plugs on passenger side, on right side of footwell
2. Insert the Tactrix into the OBD port located near bonnet release lever, you push tactrix vertically upwards into plug
3.Turn ignition key ON, turn OFF air con, any lights, sound system - all OFF. This is critical to keep power supply stable
4. Open software, select READ FROM ECU, then list comes up
5. Select ANY Subaru DBW file and then click READ
6. You will see a progress bar working across bottom of view (takes a good couple of mins), once its 100% it asks you to turn key off and then asks you where you want the file saved and what you want to call it
DONE
TO LOAD A ROM TO ECU
TO RETRIEVE A ROM
1. Connect green plugs on passenger side, on right side of footwell
2. Insert the Tactrix into the OBD port located near bonnet release lever, you push tactrix vertically upwards into plug, make certain laptop battery is FULLY charged and tactrix is plugged into USB port securely
3.Turn ignition key ON, turn OFF air con, any lights, sound system - all OFF. This is critical to keep power supply stable
4. Open software, select OPEN and navigate to where you saved the new ROM
5. Select "WRITE TO ECU"
6. You will see a progress bar working across bottom of view (takes 40secs or so), once its 100% it asks you to turn key off and unplug the tactrix and then disconnect the 2 green plugs
7. Start car and drive - you cannot help but notice the IMMEDIATE improvement in throttle control and willingness of engine in the 1000 - 3500 range - such a big difference even on ROM V0.
WELL DONE EDWARD, I cannot believe the change in the car, the improvement down in that very low end of the rpm band where I like to drive for economy is HUGELY improved. Crisp, clean and willing, not doggy, soggy and unwilling as it was with factory tune.
The real power delivery did hit somewhat earlier too, before it seemed to really crank on from 4000rpm, now it was like around 3500rpm it really started to KICK on
You been considering an XTR tune??????????????????? JUST DO IT, take it from someone who is in the car tuning business - this man does know what he is done, many can tune the top end but only very few make the bottom totally perfect.
DONE
I will qualify the above with the following
I have no idea of the condition of sparkplug, oil change is nearly due s or a host of other components in the engine/exhaust - the tune made the difference on its on merits
I have no feedback on fuel economy - obviously

Car drives well but I did not wait for 1 min of idling, didnt know these details. I haven't revved it past 4000rpm, that part is covered
Should I reload and go through the process again?
Sucks to be a BB user at the moment - total message system fail hey

This is off topic but I've got RomRaider V 0.5.2 Beta/ECU Logger installed on my computer which works. But I also have RomRaider ECU Editor and when I open it up,
it gives me a pop up saying..... Editor Configuraition
ECU Definitions not configured
Go on line to down load the last definition filesI have gone on the site but i'm still not sure what is wrong with it and how i can fix it.![]()
