RAPTOR SUPERCHARGER FOR LIB 3.0

We had a little test today with the 3.0R B against an Impreza GC8 EJ 2.0 with Raptor supercharger

From standing start the little EJ20 Impreza with Raptor SC just blew me away, no chance to catch him at all

From rolling start at 60kmh I was ahead for a while, then he wizzed past until 175kmh at which point I really blew past him again, if the EJ had a 6speed tranny he would have wiped the floor with me in all runs

So we have a local benchmark

Firstly I need boost just to catch him in standing start run to 180 ......... we have it on tape to compare with future runs

Your engine needs 5W30 and the Amsoil Series 3000 HDD is just about the best on the planet.

However the money might be better spent on replacing the Nankangs, Bendix and retaining a lawyer.

The tyres and brakes working very well - plenty ok for straight line work which is all there is at our place

We have plenty room to play around on our private bit of road, we also dont need to go 200 plus to find out who has the horses to get the job done

I used to be an Amsoil reseller so its likely as anything else that I will go Amsoil again - very high end products

Tradewind, there are bonnet protectors available, I bought my car 2 months ago, and it already had a colour coded one on it.
I have just left it on, not that I really need it in the city, as to me it doesn't look too bad.

Hi

Yes I did get a genuine Subaru one during the week and fitted it, looks good but is an essential item here

Dropped in to pick up some REDLINE lube for trans this afternoon, nothing in stock. Will order AMSOIL online and get it done

A few small jobs on weekend

The front strut nut on left side was working loose, knocking a bit, gave it some tightening - all very good

Slight knocking in rear struts, maybe nuts are slightly loose too or maybe bushes are not 100% - will check that in the future

Inspected throttle body, was nearly perfectly clean, a couple of shots of carby cleaner and I am happy its clean enough for the future

Removed grill and tighted up the head light assy's bolts, the drivers side one was a little bit wriggly, all perfect now

Checked trans oil, looks perfect, cant change as no oil arrived yet

Both the rear exhaust flanges are leaking, doesnt matter anyway as they will get tossed in a while!!

Next thing is to pull some spark plugs and see if they stay or go

As you all see I am doing a few checks on the whole engine/car before a kit is installed, the tune coming from this will be Eds baseline generic tune so I need be sure its all as it should be. That goes for the exhaust as well, i have to fit a system thats something most people will find easy to source - ie XFORCE. As for the extractors, i think I will be manufacturing sets of those, extensive searches hasnt turned up anything at all thats one, available and two half affordable.

speaking of exhausts. as we know. on n/a we need about 2.5inch. any bigger will lose torque due to lack of back pressure. but now ith a s/c on. would it be worth going to 3" or with the backpressure still be an issue?

Many thanks

I have injectors in stock :D

The ideal exhaust size will be 2.75" for boosted, getting this size will be challenging

Backpressure, interior droning etc are all to be considered -

I actually dont know what G and Mark are running for back sections, size I mean

I have actually retained stock exhaust other than the rear mufflers. I do not like to think of spending money to create a low rpm torque hole just to achieve high rpm power. Unless I can find an exhaust that is guaranteed to improve both (Is that the impossible dream? :) )

2.5" = backwards on a n/a 3rb, I wish previously ran a 2.5" cat back and he wasn't happy. From memory he went to 2 1/4" and noticed a good improvement. When Edward was tuning his car with the s/c, the K2gear full system wasn't holding it back..

From memory, I've got a 2" or 2 1/4" centre pipe with supercat hotdog/resonator into twin 2" pipes at the rear into magnaflow mufflers.
