Easter 2012

Easter 2012

Postby Ric » Thu Jul 14, 2011 3:21 pm

There's a National MG Car Club meeting in Hobart from 6-9 April. http://natmeet2012.weebly.com/index.html

I'll be bringing my MGA over on the ferry on April-5.
I wouldn't mind catching up with some of our Tas members if you can organise a get together sometime. :)

MGCC kindly hosted our trackday at baskerville for the RSLC national meet earlier this year.
Although no MG's raced on the day... probably had too much oil leaking or water in the electricals to get them running properly.....

It's not an MG if it doesn't have a drip ;)
It's Minis that had all the water in the electrics problems. I doubt there's many Lucas parts left in my car.

Small update on this. I'm now booked on the Wed night ferry (Apr-4), and driving down to Hobart on Thursday Apr-5.
I'm now going to be bringing the Liberty, and towing the MG on a trailer.
(That's costing a small fortune, but the wife insisted I bring it on a trailer.)

So, Thursday night and half of Friday I'll be at a loose end. :)

No, my schedule is:

Thu Apr-5 Arrive Devonport 7am. Pick my wife up from the airport at 9am, then drive down to Hobart
Thu Apr-5 Evening: in Hobart. No plans yet.
Fri Apr-6 Morning: Registration paperwork at Wrest Point Casino. Probably be done by lunchtime.
Fri Apr-6 Afternoon: No plans yet
Fri Apr-6 Evening: Casual meal and "Rocker cover racing". i.e. a fun event where people race toy cars they have made from engine rocker covers. There are strict rules about maximum weight etc. :)
Sat Apr-7 Day: Concours in the "Hobart Regatta Ground". Have to park the car early, then wander around till mid-afternoon.
Sat Apr-7 Evening: "Theme night". Another dinner where everyone has to be dressed in a 1960's theme, as it's the 50th birthday of the MGB which was released in 1962.
Sun Apr-8 Day: Sprint laps at Baskerville Raceway
Sun Apr-8 Evening: No plans yet, but the Victorian contingent will probably organise a get together.
Mon Apr-9 Day: Motorkhana at Derwent Entertainment Centre, Glenorchy
Mon Apr-9 Evening: Presentation dinner at the casino
Tue Apr-10 Driving back to Devenport to get the night ferry home.

All the events are free entry, so come along for a look if you're interested. :D

Well there hasn't been much interest yet, probably because I'm tied up most evenings.

The Concours on Saturday is probably the best time to meet up. I'll be somewhere near this car

It's at the "Hobart Regatta Ground", which appears to be here: http://g.co/maps/bqx5j
We'll be there from 9am to mid afternoon. PM me if you want my mobile number :)

I'm down at the regatta ground now
The sun has come out, and it's looking great with hundreds of classic cars on the grass.

Definitely looking forward to seeing some pics soon Ric!
My girlfriend's dad is restoring an MGB at the moment.. Just a few timing issues to sort out then she'll be running smoothly again. They're gorgeous cars!

Quite a schedule Ric! How was the theme dinner? As above...Waiting on concours/motorkhana pics
I got this plan. It's called 'Save Ass'. And the way it works is this - I slip outta one of these windows and I run like a bastard!

Me at the racetrack at viewtopic.php?f=11&t=16359

There's a gallery of the Concours at http://natmeet2012.weebly.com/concours-gallery.html

The five cars in my class. The red one from WA won the Concours. :(
(I won the class in the Lap Dash and the Motorkhana though! ;))
