Power window motor, 08 outback

Postby darwinschops » Thu Oct 22, 2015 8:56 am

Hey fellas, new outback owner, first post.

Found a good how to on here to replace the window motors, just want to check something. Are the front left motors in the US spec liberties/outbacks the same as those here?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/310724365277?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT

For a quarter the price they're retailing here and not wanting to chance it on a wrecker motor.

Thanks for any help.

Have had some experience with US spec stuff and it's not always compatible, your best bet would be try and pick one up from a wreck with low K's and warranty :)

Tried PartsSouq?

Search on your VIN so you know its the correct part.

There's no ambiguity required:

Find your car on Opposed Forces under EDM cars, RHD.
Find the window/door parts.
Find the motor part on the diagram.
Click the link to get a cross reference of compatible models and markets

OR

Put your VIN into the relevant search box on eg Partsoug, search for your window motor using a keyword or via the diagrams.

If you need a hand...

Hmmmmmm.. using the vin through partsouq, i got 61188AG010, same in opposed forces and the US part # is 61188AG01A.

Looking down through the opposed forces link, looks like it's compatible - '04, March -OUTBACK 3.0L DOHC NA FULLTIME 4WD 5SP Automatic transmission 30R Normal suspension Right-hand drive.

So guessing even though not identical part#, should be fine?

Thanks fellas.

Was considering just going the local 2nd hand option but apparently they do flog out pretty regularly so one that's already 10 years old for ~$80 v a new one ex. states for ~$120... Worth doing if it looks like it'll fit.

I think you're splitting hairs but what is your exact model?
My08 outback, 3.0 engine, auto transmission?
http://opposedforces.com/parts/info/61188AG010/
Click "useage information"...
You can see the part is ubiquitous, I'd say the A you found in the name on Partsouq refers to eg the American market.

Have you researched simply reconditioning the part itself?
Usually with age the brushes in the motor wear down or stick, or the motor itself gets shorted out with all the brushes dust.
So to begin, just give the motor a hearty tap with eg the handle of a big screw driver, failing that working, clean out the motor and lube the brushes, or replace the brushes with something similar via eg eBay.

The same technique applies to most of the accessory motors in the car, eg seat, sunroof, even in a similar fashion to HVAC door and central locking actuators...

Yep, just wanted to be sure. Thanks for the other input too. Not something I'd thought about too much but will keep in mind. As it is, with new replacements reasonably available, I don't mind spending a bit to avoid a bit of f*cking about but increasingly difficult to obtain parts will make me more inclined to have a crack at your suggestion.

First post here also. Just bought a 07 My08 Outback H6 R. My rear pass window would not work. So have ordered one out of the US.. $200 landed at my door it arrived today. I have pulled the old one out and got it working... very easy to disassemble, clean the armiture and brushs. The brushes had lost there tension so reset them and put back in. Works fine at the moment... but I still ordered new one from US on the idea I only need the actual motor to be the same not the whole assembly regulator.
