Hey there,

I'm just curious as to what some of the factory options were for 2006 Outbacks?

What sparked my intrest was some features of my Outback are different from other ones I've seen around from the same year....

Such as:
-Wheels (Spokes aren't broad)
-Tint (Darker/actually has some)
-External Body Trim (Bottom grey section, i've only ever seen one other 2006 with the grey bottom trim)

Where these optional extra? Or was this just a stock standard outback special pack?

I believe the two choices for the pre-facelift were:

2.5 model:


3.0R model:


The 2.5 higher spec models may have got the 3.0R rims, I'm not 100% sure. But these are the only two variations I'm aware of for the Outback at that time.

I've never seen the wheels you have on an Outback.


As for the external cladding, I'm not 100% either. I think the Outback had "Touring Wagon" badges or similar in the early days and those ones tended to have the gray cladding.

This may be a stupid question, but how do you specifically tell between the 2.5 and 3.0R?

Transmission: 4 speed auto
Headunit: gx203 kh (no video screen)
No Turbo

The 3.0R has a 6 cylinder, 3.0L engine, the 2.5 has a 4 cylinder 2.5L engine.
i think the wheels you have are forester wheels?

Yeah wheels are from an SG Forester

That model was a special edition, only came in 2 colours, white over silver & dark blue over silver.
The 2.5's came standard with the 16" Forester XT wheels.
The 3.0R's came with the 17" 5 spoke wheels.
