So i was thinking of installing a reverse camera on my lib. I have a prefacelift with GPS and i was wondering if there is a spot for me to install one? In the facelifted models there is a RCA input and a reverse camera input correct? Is this is the same for prefacelift?

What kind of camera should i be looking for? Are ebay ones ok? I dont care if its fantastic quality?

I'm not sure about which models have which inputs but I can tell you that there are kits specifically made for Subaru Liberty's with the factory GPS like this one for $295:

To be honest, you shouldn't have to buy a kit like that. Hopefully someone else can give you a clearer answer, but basically I've heard that using a foreign camera with your OEM headunit can cause other functions to go haywire.

FYI - the rear camera on my car cost me <$150 and its crystal clear. Don't be afraid of eBay ones. Just steer clear of the REALLY cheap ones and you'll be fine.

The camera input on mine looks like the 4 pin connector found in most pc's. I bought my cam from ebay for around $30 aust it has really good pictur quality but i mainly picked this one because it looked just like the factory cam for the tribeca. he is a something i found by searching the topics here.

i hooked up a reverse camera to my factory sat nav a while back.... cost me $180+ for the camera from memory....... make sure you get yourself a wide-angle (170 deg) CCD camera..... the cheaper ones on the market have CMOS sensors and quality is not as good, esp at night!

have a look at this thread, it may or may not be useful to you:

Also depending on your sat nav, i had to buy the auxiliary cable and an extra cable that tells the camera to come on when you put the car in reverse.........

hope some of that is helpful.......[/quote]

This looks very close to the one i purchased except this one will be easier to mount as you only have to drill one hole, I connected the power feed to the reverse light and the ran the video along the factory harness on drivers side all the way to the sat nav. Connected it in the back of screen all up took about 40 mins to finnish install and looks totally factory.

Sooo Im still a little confused. Those above conversations are about the newer model Sat-Nav with bluetooth etc. Is the same plug at the back of my (older) Sat-Nav? Has anyone actually purchased one of those connectors from that Canadian guy? And will this work? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/WIRELESS-Car-Rev ... 20b3c213d0

It seems to be NTSC and wide angle. And the best part is that i dont need to rape my car to wire it up haha :D

Looks like it should just have to make up or purchase the loom you looked at. Also just check the back of the nav screen to make sure you have the connector. It take about 10 mins to pull out and check.

Here is a pic of mine looks pretty much the same.

PM Shano (JDM RSK)... He has done a fantastic job of setting his up on his Gen 3 via an Eclipse head unit.
