bringing up old thread... i'm going to do this to my MY04 2.5i Liberty on the weekend. is it worth it?
i read on OzLiberty that you don't NEED to block up the hole at the bottom, so what would the difference be in getting air from the intake or from where the hole would be?

cheers,
ben

Not 100% sure but I think that "hole" you are talking about is effectively behind the filter meaning that your engine will be sucking in air that has not gone through the air filter....

I have now installed the PHAT GT CAI and removed the plastic from the back of the Fog Light surround to allow more in there. Performance improvement who knows but it all helps.

IDOLYZ, so hows the intake going? is there a noticeable sound? doubt there would be any real power gains though..pics.

On the GT the "hole" is before the airfilter (where the resonater connects). Motor will not suck un filtered air.

You probably won't notice any more noise on a NA car, on the turbo cars, you'll hear most of the increased noise only on boost.

When i did mine, i drove around for a few weeks with the hole left open, didn't like the way it sounded so i closed the hole up and drilled a small hole for water to drain.

Abosolutely no gains with a std airfilter or aftermarket replacement pad filter on a std GT.
