How To Change Battery In Key

Postby ngn33r » Thu May 13, 2010 11:24 am

I tried searching, assuming some one would had cover this...

I have come to a point, where I need to stand close by to lock/unlock the car...

Haven't look at the key yet, wondering what battery it uses, and how do you open her up

Thanks

There's one screw then the two halves pry apart. Can't remember exact size maybe CR2032.

I think it's CR1616 or CR1620 from memory.
Or is it CR2020/2025? :?

It's in the manual though so either check that or inside your remote first :)

Just go to Dicksmith or Tandy (If they still exist) & open the key there... That way they can give you a replacement on the spot :D

They aren't very expensive anyway :D

Could something be pressing one of the buttns down for extended periods?
I've had mine for over 4 years now, and it's still going fine on the original battery, which does get used several times a day :)

Also note, if you do change your battery, handle it like a halogen globe. i.e. do NOT touch the new battery with your bare fingers, use a tissue or a hankie to handle it once removed from the packaging. The oils from your fingers are slightly conductive, which will make it go flat a bit quicker, and also help it to corrode too.

If you have handled the battery, clean it with a clean cloth and some metho.
