eBay: Dual Tip Mufflers

Postby dutch7 » Thu Apr 08, 2010 4:14 pm

Hi all, not sure if this topic is the right section, but anyway....wondering any thoughts on the following mufflers? (as in the measurements listed, would they fit onto a stock exhaust on a MY09 GTB ?)

I don't care how good it looks, do you really want to buy a muffler that's $21?

It says the tip is 3 inches, so is that duel 3 in tips? If so, i doubt it will ft in the bumper gap.

Dual 2.5" tips barely fit. I wouldn't try dual tips any bigger than 2.5". They might squeeze in but it will be against plastic which does melt at the temperatures that the muffler tips get to

$21 is too cheap for mufflers that they caim increases the hp that much.

They have to be welded on, so i'm guessing the bracket that the factory mufflers bolt on to has to be cut off?
It is tempting seeing a part like that so cheap, haha.

Removing and running with no mufflers should yield the same result. :D

Wouldn't be surprised if it's just an empty tin shell with no packing inside. :P

thanks for your feedback guys. they do seem way too cheap considering the postage is more than 3 times the item itself. would be good to test out if they actually fit. I just can't justify spending a heap of money on a couple of replacement mufflers just for the sound a this stage, although the 5-10 horsepower increase is quite appealing!

You can certainly give it a go considering they are quite cheap. You never know, it could be a hidden gem! Whatever the case, please do provide sound clips and pics if you do decide to go ahead with purchasing a set.

Otherwise your other options are either buying 2nd hand (perhaps Import Monster?) or just dropping by your local muffler shop and having them custom make you a set. Should only set you back around the $500 mark.

Although the 5-10 horsepower increase is quite appealing!

LOL! That's all marketing hype. Just like those 'mod chips' they sell on eBay for $50 that supposed increase your power by 20-30 hp!
