Hi People!
Just purchased my car today! and am anxious to fiddle around with it,
Anyways, ive been trolling around the forums, but i cant seem to find a pin point answer.
My question is, My Liberty my07 Spec B, came with a factory Sat Nav Unit, i want to add a reverse camera to it.
I know from previous posts that their is a video input in the Sat Nav,
Is it a simple, plug and play, assuming that i purchase a camera from ebay that has a Video RCA lead?
Or do i have to ground it for it to work?

Lets assume i purchase one of these,

(Not sure if it fits though)

Thanks for your time in advance.

Congrats on the car purchase.

There are 2 inputs on the Satnav - a standard RCA and a dedicated reverse camera input.

See post 8/9 for a pic http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.p ... ml?t=36342

If you use the standard RCA, then you have to manually select the video input from the Satnav but if you use the dedicated reverse camera input, the video is automatically selected when you use reverse gear.

If you use the RCA input then it's plug and play, if you use the dedicated reverse camera input, then you have to strip the video cable wires and insert them into the appropriate +/- inputs as shown or you can put the wires into standard 4 pins molex plugs that you find in any ordinary PCs and plug that into the dedicated reverse camera input.

Obviously a bit more work to use the dedicated input but it leaves you a spare RCA input for something else, eg. media player.

And if you want better picture quality, get a CCD not a CMOS camera - just make sure it's NTSC.

Hope this helps.

Awesome, and thanks for the quick reply!
I guess ill be going the hard way, as i want it to automatically go into the reverse screen when i do hit it in reverse.
As for the CCD cameras, and recommendations?

Sorry no. Be warned though - they are more expensive.

Some info (old but still relevant)

damn i didn't know they sold the full replacement part for the trunk integrated with the camera! would be sweet to find a liberty one but i guess we cant seeing as that wasn't a factory option on our cars.......

mate i went through the whole reverse camera dilemma, and i can say after going through that, it was so worth it! makes reversing a breeze, best bang for buck i ever spent.... just a bit disappointed how my camera is so obvious on the back.......

do a quick search on the forums here as there is a bit of info on what i had to go through..... shame its not all in one thread lol

bit of info that you might / might not find useful here:

And the final product, decided just to mount it into the middle, then replace a license light
