Guys, I know this is probably a very basic question but how do I go about removing the stereo/facia so I can install a handsfree? I've searched alot but can't find it, though i'm sure there's probably hundreds of threads on it.

Car is an MY07 manual Liberty 2.0R

Is there anywhere on the vehicle that there are free connectors for this? Or will I have to splice it out the radio wire connectors? What colours correspond to what on the wiring loom?

Also what is the best place to put the speaker, microphone and control unit for my handsfree? It is a Sony Ericsson HCB-30

I can't seem to find many threads relating to handsfree installations - everyone seems to be getting it done professionally.

not sure on the wiring sorry mate as I just use a bluetooth head set but here is a helpful thread I used when i installed my ipod adapter

Looks easy enough to take it apart - but now I just need a wiring diagram of some sort so I know what wires to tap in to.

Hi Mate

You will need to splice in the power from the stereo ot take it from the aux input inside your glove box as I think from memory this has a decent fuse on it.

My suggestion is to get a $30 multimeter and test the ground and constant 12v and acc 12v as I'm guessing you want to hook it up to the constant 12v and the bluetooth kit will have an auto power off to save your battery.

From memory and this is a big guess but I think it was the blue wire 2nd from the left on the top row, but that is a big guess.

Yup already have a multimeter (done plenty of car audio and handsfree installs over the years). I would prefer to take it from the cigarette lighter in the glovebox, but I doubt that has a constant 12v source? THey tend to be switched? Can someone please confirm.

Maybe a dumb question, but what is the problem with switched?

I'm pretty sure it will lose it's pairing memory if it does not have 12v constant.

So i'll have to re-pair my phone to it every time i turn my car on. I'm not 100% sure on this though, i'll test it out with a 12v battery

A bit of Googling seems to imply it does need 12V constant... how annoying...

And when you turn off the ignition but u are still on the phone you will disconnect straight away, they normally have a 5min delay so you can finish your conversation.

And the Cig is only 12v ACC so you will need the stereo harness, like I said multimeter it and it will take u 5mins

Took just under an hour to do, and seems to be working quite well. Unfortunately the microphone is picking up the speaker and 'echoing' the sound through, so will probably have to move the speaker away or just turn the volume down.

I'd like to wire my microphone from my handsfree to around the middle of the A pillar. Does anyone know the best way to route the wire from the centre console? Is there an air bag in that A pillar? ( i have a 6 airbag system.. )

There's a good chance you have an airbag in the A pillar
