Getting rid of fly by wire hesitation?

Postby blybo » Tue Feb 09, 2010 1:52 pm

Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anybody has come across a fix to the hesitation from fly by wire in a 6MT 3RB? Can it only be improved through tuning for responsiveness or is there a specific fix?

Sorry if this is a common question but search functions rarely work for me

To properly fix it you need to edit the DBW response tables in the ECU, using a Tactrix or similar cable and open source tuning.

To get around it (somewhat) you can install an electronic throttle controller although it is not the perfect solution:

DBW is such a pain in the 6MT H6. Really need to do something about it myself aswell.

Happy with your electronic throttle contoller?

The ETC does a pretty good job but ideally I would still get Westminst or some other method to fix the damn DBW maps once and for all.

The upside is with the ETC it really comes into its own when going for a spirited run when you can crank the throttle response right up. For everyday driving I just use setting 2 out of 7 which gives a very mild boost to the throttle on the initial part of its travel.

It's a 5min plug and play install unless u want to have it hard wired in and all neat like I did, in which case the sky's the limit as to how long it can take :P

As for the price it was around $170AUD shipped I think it's good value for money. The only alternative is tactrix cable plus custom dbw map tune which can be a few hundred. Plus u need a laptop. All up easily could be spending $400-$500.00
