help! problem with central locking

hi, today i unlooked my doors on my car to get something out of the back seat and the back door was stil locked but all the other doors opened, so i put my hand in threw the front door and unlocked the back one from the latch inside and it opened but then wen i used the remote to lock them the back stayed opened. then i noticed wen ever i pressed the button to either open or lock the doors it was making a repetative sound like it was either trying to lock or open but couldn't. hope everyone knows wat i mean. has anyone had this problem before.

also checked child lock and it was free not locked.

I had a similar problem on my old car with the doors being Dynamatted (it's a word, I swear). The rods connecting to the lock and handles etc would catch on the sticky side of the Dynamat.

Sounds like a faulty solenoid, I had a similar issue with the rear passenger door. It'd be 'slow' and the more you repetitively lock and unlock the doors it gets faster?

Hmm... I had the exact same issue. Luckily mine was fixed under the statutory 3 month dealer warranty

may just be a faulty actuator on that door. Dad had one go in the Prado where it just didn't lock

looks like it might be the actuator i went to subaru but almost fainted when they told me it could be that or the solenoid and that it could cost in between $80 - $300 JUST FOR THE DAMN PART.

I think the part is $155 or $182, at trade price, from memory. It's pretty easy to DIY fit.

+1. Wife's Impreza does the same thing, but it won't unlock instead....

i think i might pull it appart on the weekend and see if i can fix the problem, i can't see this problem being worth that much. i can put that towards my damd kit

The actuator is a electronically controlled solenoid, it's not a user serviceable part.
