Paint or Powdercoat Stock Grill

Hi all,

For my stock grill below is it best to paint/powdercoat the chrome bits? I want to make it black so am not sure which process will be best. Also how much do you think this will cost if I get it done professionally, maybe Mr Clean from Padstow?

I'd say paint. Powdercoat works off heat, which would melt the plastic. Unless I'm sorely misinformed

theres a thread somewhere here showing how someone painted their grill themselves. looked like a good job.

There are powder coat methods which work with plastics. Would be nowhere near as cheap as painting it yourself though

what i did with my chrome is painted it black

all i did was sand it with wet/dry sand paper

masked the areas i didnt want painted obviously

then applied about 3 coats of SEPTONE branded satin black spray paint from Super Cheap

and there u hav it, thers been no problems and the paint job turned out perfect

you can powdercoat anything these days, glass, mdf, most plastics, but be prepared to pay big for it.

Never heard of powder coating plastics, but I know MDF can be done.

Either way, painting would be your best option... Or you know, just buy a new grill

Lets not talk about grills, still..p... off.. with the grill i purchased. Did'nt fit and had to sell it, now I am thinking of painting mine
Unless i find a good-looking grill to suit my PRE-FACE 3.0L
