guys! as the title suggests, my car has decided to not start!!

ok so i was replacing a stuffed up smd light in licence plate lights last night and somehow i blew the fuse. eventually i found the fuse for it and switched it with the replacement, (FYI its in the engine box under the hood) .... and everything was working fine when i tested the lights etc...

i then switched off everything and went back in the house assuming everything was sweet. now, i didnt drive the car to work today, and just tonight i was going to reverse the car out of the drive way and i have found out all electrics have died, no lighting, my central locking not working, nada.... so i manually unlock and try to start her, but nothing is happeneing.... totally dead........ have i fk'ed up my car just for some bloody damn lights, or is the battery just dead??

im so annoyed right now!!! :angry2:

any advice for a noob would be great! thanks

Any parkers working? Hazard lights? If no to both of those, I'd be checking the battery first.

Check all of your fuses, all wires off the battery. If they are fine, check your battery. Do you have a multimeter?

Pretty sure it'd be the battery, although possible I don't see changing something as simple as a few lights messing up all the eletricals. You may have just left a light on in the car overnight after installing your new items.

just a thought, this wouldn't have somehow triggered the immobilizer would it?

you should still have lights and such. Immobiliser shouldn't prevent remote unlocking either.

Sounds like it's almost certainly a flat battery.
A few hours with a trickle charger, or CAREFULLY jump starting will get you going.
If you use a fast charger, you must disconnect the battery from the car.

Yes, you can jump start cars with ECUs, but you must know what you're doing, and use a jumper cable with a surge suppressor in it.

Whereabout in Melbourne are you?
