Joint name

Postby adam » Fri Jun 12, 2009 2:24 pm

can anybody tell me what this joint (centre of frame) is and who does a good after market one?
this is the front right on my gt. it's the ones on my 2.0L that are shagged. are they the same?
also, what might the possible symptoms of "shagged this thingy" be?

I'd be calling that the front suspension lower arm rear bush. I had those same bushes replaced on mine after having them pointed out by Tony at VSport when he did my front brakes. Fortunately they were done under warranty

yeah, tony at v-sport pointed mine out as well. i wonder if they'll be covered under my "subaru ass-ured extended warranty"

you made me chuckle gumby

thanks for the tip ultra.

You are correct Senator :D it's a pity that the prettiest part on my car is also the most hidden

Do not put the factory ones back in unless you want to do that job again in the very near future.

Fulcrum make a part that is infinitely better than the rubbish Subaru put in there.

AVO call it the caster adjustment bushing.

Here's mine on a JDM Spec.C alloy lower control arm :)

I consider the Subaru part to be of faulty design and had the cost of replacing it included in the purchase price of my car.

If anyone actually wants the rubbish Subaru put in there, I probably have a set with only delivery km in the garage somewhere.

so further to my original question.... would severe tracking be a happening if this part was kaput? also my car seems vague and changes direction(slightly) for no reason.

btw. thanks again to all for the info provided.

If that bush was flogged it could affect castor and potentially toe of the wheel. My car did 3 or 4 months after Tony pointed them out as flogged before I got them replaced (next service). In that time I drove it down to Melbourne and back and gave it a proper thrashing through some very fun roads (outside shoulders blue afterwards) and didn't notice any problem. Can't say I noticed any difference after they were replaced either

What Smythie said about alignment (both static and dynamic) is spot on ... but didn't also recently put on some KU36s?
