Hi, I'm thinking of replacing my halogen fogs shortly to match the headlights and am wondering how many of you out there have replaced your factory fog lights with HID's. Would be interested to know where you installed the Ballasts, what temp (K) you opted for and any experiences you had. Thanks in advance!

I've got HID foggies installed by Mr HID Sydney, HKS180 (Leo).

Went for 6000k so they match the HID low beams perfectly.

Ballest placement was fun, considering there were 4... But I believe one went of the chassis, one under each head light & one near the battery... Unless your looking, you can't see any proof of anything after market installation... Well, for HID's anyway... :D

i changed my fogs to HID's a while ago, went for 6000k so they're the same as my low beams. i have slim line ballasts and stuck them to the underside of the fog surround.

As i understand it. MY07+ don't have projectors on the fogs, so there might be an issue of blinding other drivers.

I think you may be right on that one... Thus why LED foggies are popular with the MY07 + crowd.

Maybe Mr Arith can help you out on this one if you want to go the LED option :D

I've had HID foglights for nearly two years already. First mod I did on the car.

5000K all round - OEM looking and doesn't attract any unwanted attention, though I do miss the way road signs light up fluorescent with 6000K... :(

Yep - illegal to run with foggies in Vic unless it's fog (obviously). Mate of mine copped a warning from the local constable on his way home from work a while back so mine are off...

Although I did have them on for our cruise...

Its illegal to run foglights expect in conditions of reduced visibility in QLD too.

Also HID's are illegal unless they are self levelling

Thanks for your input guys. I thought it was only illegal in NSW?! however I did read RACV and VicRoads' websites which mention they would make the vehicle unroadworthy. I installed a set of 6000k HID's on an Eunos 500 I also used to own. It did however have stock projector headlights, so never had any issues with them. Not sure about LED fogs as they wouldn't be too bright, but then again don't want to be blinding cops either... I can't see much of an issue as long as I don't have them on all the time. I only use them when its raining or visibility is low anyways :)

...yeh I noticed Steve, I had to dim my rear-view mirror for most of the cruise! :Þ

And, I believe, you also need to have headlight washers.
