Replacing a registration plate bulb - 2010 (Liberty) Exiga

Postby peachtravis » Wed Jul 13, 2022 9:15 pm

Hi all, just looking for a little guidance on how to change the registration plate bulb on my 2010 Exiga (2.0L 2WD).

I've tried to google it, but it doesn't appear to be the type to slide left and remove, nor the type fixed by two screws. There also doesn't seem to be any (easy) way to get at it from the interior (whereas the tail light that is on the boot lid has a little portal to access the bulb).

Here's a picture - any help appreciated:

Update: a friend showed me how to do this.

The lining of the boot does come off, via a screw in the handhold on the bottom of the hatch, and popping off a large number of other plastic pins (just by searching round with your hands and gently pulling the lining away).

Once off, it's straightforward - locate the bulb and it comes out with a 45 degree twist and pull. Replace the bulb, and line the tabs up to rotate it back in.

Getting the interior back in was a slight pain - it wouldn't click together nicely so I had to take off all the trims up to the high rear stop light and put it together in the right sequence.

Still, not too bad. Hopefully this helps someone someday.
