Fuel Pump and Start relays - Gen 4

Postby wildfire42 » Wed Sep 08, 2021 3:15 pm

Hi All,
I am trying to locate the Fuel Pump and Start relays in a 2007 Gen 4.
I have searched here and in the FSM and Owners manual but no luck.
Are they in the panel behind the dash beside the main Fuse Panel ?
There are four relays there and no indication of what each does.
There is also a 7.5A fuse of unknown use.

Thanks for any help.

What model 2007 gen4?

Has your car had the related recall done?

The fuel pump fuse is in the engine bay fuse box, the index diagram is printed under the lid.

Fuel pump control module is below the trim in the boot under the LHS C pillar.

Hi Benny,
Thanks for the info.
You are the Subie Guru.
Sorry I should have shown more details about the model.

2007 Gen 4 Wagon - 2 litre ( EJ204 ) - Unfortunately with the Secondary Air Pump.

I will look under the LH rear trim for the Fuel Pump Control module.

I don't have any problems with the car - Its a great car. Best looking wagon they have
built - before and since.

I like to be familiar with where everything is :)

I bought the car used and the last dealer service was in Oct 2018 so do not know of
any recalls that have been done. Is it possible to contact Subaru Aus. and get a record
of recalls done ? Or maybe a list of all the recalls applicable.

Also do you have info on the 4 relays under the drivers side dash ?

Cheers.

I have a gen 4 LGT and the fuel pump is in the fuel tank and so is the fuel filter..This is the pump and filter..

Image

If it's the same and you are having fuel supply issues, it could be the filter. The part number is RYCO Z717

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/15247427795 ... %3A2334524

Like I said I am not sure if your 2lt non turbo has the same setup and parts so sus that out first and don't forget , the less fuel in the tank the better. Disconnect the battery BEFORE you start taking out the pump/filter..

Not really, I’m curious and I like attempting to comprehend complex systems.

Let’s not make any assumptions about your car for starters…

Its a my07 2.0 n/a, but which exactly?

I simply used opposed forces site to check models vs years.

So 2.0i SOHC finishes my05…
http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/e ... _assembly/

And 2.0t with avcs starts in my05…
http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/e ... _assembly/

So your car is likely a 2.0r.
In the FSM it’s referred to as H4DO: 4 cylinder dual overhead camshaft.

It has avcs, not sure if dual or single, can’t remember if it has alvs too.
Its a fascinating model, I hope to find out more.

So some FSM sections are general to the generation, and others specific to the genuine, and as such H4DO will be printed in the footer of those pages.

The cabin fuse box also has an index printed inside the cover.
But let’s go look in the FSM wiring diagram anyway.

So I'm searching an MY08 FSM...

Keyword is H4DO: no hits searching the pdf in Acrobat.

So I'm probably looking at a USDM specific FSM.

Any Gen Market FSM should have the H4DO model info, I looked at 2008 FSM HTML version.

These used to work in Firefox etc, but some security feature prevents it, so I opened it in Internet Explorer...

Here's the fuel pump fuse in the engine compartment fuse box:

Here's the fuel pump relay info, its apparently behind the glovebox...

But I'd look at the RHD model bulkhead cabin loom diagram for the actual locations...

Turns out SeaMonkey browser is perfect for viewing HTML FSM.
Essential as the bulk of General Market FSM are in that format.
I added a link to the FSM guide. ;)

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the info.
Its a good time during lockdown to fiddle with the Subie.
I will probably remove the glovebox and "find" the fuel pump relay at some stage.
Cant wait till I can go the wreckers and get a few parts for future use.

I looked up the Subaru Aus site recalls using my VIN and there are two listed
- Takata Airbag shows as completed.
- Fuel Pump Harness - no status on this.

I will contact Subaru and see if it is still relevant.

I also found the Sticky Dash recall but it lapsed I think some time in 2016.
It would be nice to get that :D

I have tried the Distilled water and mIcrofibre towel cleaning Benny, as you suggested
in another post and it does seem to make a difference. I wiil do that regularly and
maybe that will allow the dash to have a bit of a longer life.

Cheers.

Recall stickers are black and white and should be in your drivers door jamb :)

Good luck with stabilising your dash!
