No heat from passenger vents

Hello all,

I have noticed that when I'm using the heater in my 05 lib the drivers side gets hot as, but the passenger side only ever blows cold.

Not sure where to start looking - thought one of the mode or air-mix actuators, or maybe when I replaced the coolant I've got an air block in heater core. I also used some 'instant head gasket fix' so maybe that's the cause...

I just read the air bleeding forum for the 3L's and found out about the second thermostat from the head - and thought maybe because I only replaced the bottom thermostat that might be messing with it.

Any insight would help tremendously.

Cheers,

Angus

Not sure what you mean by 'second thermostat'?

The fact that you replaced the thermostat and you are getting heat to at least the drivers side suggests that the heater core has hot coolant flowing through it. With the engine at operating temp, both heater hoses should feel hot. I would start looking at the blend doors on the heater unit and make sure they are all moving correctly.

Great! I'll start with the actuator, glad its less likely to be coolant related.

Yeah, I thought it was weird too - here is the thread I found out about this second thermostat viewtopic.php?f=65&t=17494&start=15

Just an update - I thought I was hearing water glugging behind the dash whenever I turned the car off, but now realise it was the actuator ticking around, can't find any new actuators so ill have to source a wrecker one, thanks for your help lads!

Just out of gas, or broken condensor or compressor?
I feared the worst last Christmas, but it was fine after a regas.

Thanks Ric…
I went through the FSM diagnostics but just did a basic test.

So switching A/C on the control panel, I hear the solenoid or the magnetic clutch click, and indeed the latter spins when A/C is switched on.
MM test shows battery voltage at the compressor plug.
There’s a noticeable hissing noise under the drivers side dash…

So yeah I’m hoping a regas does the trick. Luckily both our usual mechanics can do the job so here’s hoping :good:

Yes, usually when the gas is low, you can hear it flowing through the pipes.
If there's some flowing, then you haven't lost it all, so you don't have a major leak.

Yeas due diligence regarding not getting reamed for showing the slightest n00bism (not that I’m not a n00b but) on the subject there of.

Eg my one mechanics first suggestion was to replace the a/c comp, so I’m taking it to our other mech that regasses taxis lol.
