Remove pins from connector

Postby wildfire42 » Sat Jan 02, 2021 2:02 pm

Hi All. 2007 Liberty wagon.

Can anyone tell me how to remove a pin from a typical Subaru connector.
For instance the 6-Pin connector that plugs into the rear of the Clock.

I have poked and probed with different size safety pins etc and have had
no success at all. I know there is a lock section on the top of the plug
and even when this is lifted the pins still wouldn't release.

Thanks.

Yeah I gotta grab a big bunch of pepinners from eBay too.

Need a really thin stiff flat probe or 2 pins to release them: PITA!

Why are you messing with that plug?

I want to make a clock extension harness, so I just grabbed a spare plug to use.

Thanks Benny.
I am installing a reverse camera screen in the “cubby” above the clock and there
is a constant 12V source on one of the clock pins. Need to remove that pin so I
can tap into the the 12V and neatly use heat shrink to make a professional
splice.
I will ebay a set of those tools.
Thanks.
