Hi, I have a 2004 Liberty sedan premium pack.
A long while ago the multifunction display clock/temp/fuel consumption/trip time display became
intermittent and then failed.
I finally decided to try and fix this common problem following multiple forum posts on fixing dry joints on the circuit board.
I had no luck with this and the display was still working intermittently if I wiggled it around.
I decided that the actual display screen was a likely culprit and gave up on a repair.
I purchased a second hand display and the clock, temperature and travel time work fine.
However when I select fuel consumption, instantaneous or average then the Kl/l display flashes as does the trip A/B indicator.
On distance to empty the Kl and trip A/B indicator also flashes.
The fuel consumption readings also appear wildly incorrect.
The parts dealer kindly sent me another unit but it does the same thing.
It's as though the unit can't communicate with the main computer to display the correct readings.
I have checked owner and aftermarket manuals, searched the internet but can't find any reference to this.
I've disconnected the battery for two hours, filled the tank and reset trip meters without any luck.
My OBDII reader shows no faults and everything else in the car is working fine.
Fuses have all been check OK.
A Subaru dealer may be able to reset this or else there is another computer fault elsewhere.
I can live with this as the clock is the most important display.
Just wondering if anyone has seen a similar flashing display previously?
Peter
