Hi Folks,

I need to change the timing belt on my 2006 Liberty wagon EJ204 DOHC.

I want to purchase the Gates or Dayco timing belt kits with water pump, and the kits come with 2 or 3 outlet water pumps.

The water pumps look like this with outlets coloured pink:

I was told by a supplier that I won't know which water pump I have until I take it off the engine, but I had a look underneath the car and I can see the water pump and it looks like it only has 1 outlet (photos attached)?? Does that look like a 1 outlet to you? (photos attached)



I am certain my car is stock when I bought it, and the it has full service history to suggest that the existing water pump is factory fitted.

Look it up in your FSM re the correct timing/pump kit or via your vin on a parts site.

The car is a 2.0R?

Here’s the 2.0R water pump page on opposed forces, its a matter of the exact build date as 2006 is a crossover year.

Here’s a link to the timing kit page, it’s less specific and common to imp, foz and lib.
I’m not sure of the actual kit name though.

Yep it's a 2.0R.

I asked a Subaru dealer to quote me the water pump and I made it clear it had a single outlet and they gave me the part 21111AA260 which agrees to the website you gave (build date is Sep 2006).

Also, what do you mean by a crossover year?
