green connectors

Hi all.
I have a 2007 Liberty Wagon.
I have just finished programming a new remote successfully using the two white Registration connectors
inside the driver's kick panel.
While in there I noticed a pair of green connectors and they were connected together.
Is this normal ? What function do those connectors have ? Should they be permanently connected ?
Cheers.

Thanks Benny,
I did some searching on the forum and found that there are two sets of green connectors and
both have to be connected to get into diag mode.
The other pair is behind the glovebox.
Others have also found that their driver's side connectors are already connected !
I guess its easier to remove the glovebox than the kick panel. :)

Thanks for your help on this.

Cheers.

Hi Gents,

I visited my mechanic a few months ago for the same reason pairing a key to the car. He said the green connector was used to wipe the ECU of any fault codes. Not a good idea to drive around with it connected. This was after it had been to a subaru dealer. :(

Also the JDM manual mentioned this when I was looking at it for the key pairing.
