Lower dyno numbers than expected, any advice appreciated

Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers

I have an 04 Liberty GT wagon that I've done some work to since the turbo went and I wasn't gonna spend big bucks to just get stock power.
These mods include:
Front Mount intercooler from HDi
Blouch TD05-18G XTR
Full exhaust and unequal length headers
Currently running 18 psi

What numbers should I expect from this? I was expecting 180awkw based off what I've read online.

Well these are the results of my dyno tune by Maximum Motorsport

Does seem a little low mate. I would have thought the 18G would be able to hold boost better than that. Is that EcuTek? Do you have the AFR log? Did you ask the tuner why the low numbers?? Perhaps they pulled boost/timing due to knock??

Yea gonna have to go in and ask, I expected more but I'm new to turbos so didn't wanna question the experts too much.

It is EcuTek, and yea I don't have the AFR.

If it started to knock I understand but I feel like he should've mentioned that, he did say that the turbo struggled to hold pressure at high rpms.

100kw at wheels was my result when we ran my car stock at maximum.

I'm sure that the tune could be smoothed out a bit too.

looks to have plenty of boost dropping off over 5400rpm? why not hold till 6250?

Yea he mentioned that, couldn't really tell me why. Said it might be because of the larger intake ports on the ej20x.

Cheers again for the help jslayz you've helped me before on these forums too, really appreciate it, I'm still a total noob at this point

I took a peek at the dyno sheet and based on that, my guess is you’re on the ‘gate.

Eg it’s running at wastegate pressure/wastegate is open.

Assuming your turbos installed wastegate actuator is 16psi or say 1.5 bar.

I’d check if the ebcs lines are routed properly using the install instructions.
Or bypass the ebcs by routing the boost ref port on the comp cover to the wga port :)

Either way keep logging the car using obdii SSM for safety. :)

He wouldn't be holding 18psi like that on a 16psi actuator.

Sure...
I googled it, it’s probably got an 18psi actuator...
It’s dropping off at the top end suggesting the wastegate isn’t closing, or there’s an exhaust or boost leak possibly...

Correlating afrs would help...

A before-mods/stock dyno chart, on the same dyno would be good too.
See if the dyno is a heart breaker or semi accurate.

Is the car auto or manual?

Had a chat with the tuner at Maximum Motorsport and got the AFR log.
https://imgur.com/89ZeDSS

He said he can't really say too much as they didn't do the work, he reckons its most likely my intercooler piping causing the boost drop and therefore my lack of gains.

Got no clue about the AFR log, it looks alright but yea haven't got a clue how to interpret it. Cheers for the help, looks like fixing the intercooler piping is next on my list

Auto, he said I'd lose power through that too, did want a manual but had trouble finding one and eventually gave up as I didn't wanna ship one from over east.

This is all the data I have, also a comparison run on the same dyno from what I think he said was an 06 tuned by sti liberty. Overall still happy just expected more and from what the tuner was saying maybe I expected too much.

Cheers for all the help, learning more everyday

I reckon AFRs are too high. Mine is tuned for mid to high tens. Perhaps you should invest in a new pump (bigger) and or bigger injectors. Both can be had for not much coin. Both can be purchased from http://www.deatschwerks.com (or some local vendors on here). Both are direct drop in. You will need to scale the injectors, but your tuner SHOULD know how to do that ;-)

Not enough fuel and you ain't going to make power, simple. 8)

What does the butt dyno say anyway ?

Personally, and only because I've been doing this a while, I would ditch the Ecutek and get someone like Matt (aka Kido) or Eric Mineheart (Torqued Performance) to do the tunes. They get you to take logs and will send you an updated ROM which you then flash yourself via a Tactrix (https://www.tactrix.com/) cable/openport device. Ideally an external wideband AFR sensor as well (I have a zetroninx zt-2 (http://www.zeitronix.com/) which can be read by Romraider (for logging) and hasn't failed me in 3 years !!).

You just need to be prepared to go for the drives and take the logs. No biggie. I personally use Eric as he responds with the new tunes same or next day. Knows his stuff really well. Matt is good if you want to go outside the box and use a custom ROM e.g launch control. Can be hard to get hold of sometimes and non-responsive (personal opinion).
