So I'm not very much of a fan of the triangular key for the Gen 4 lib. It's so ugly that it feels out of place with the car so I have been exploring my options.

The best option I have found so far is this:
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Subaru-New- ... Sw0g1akAtB
However it seems a bit pricey at $180

There is also this $30 chinese version that *seems* identical:
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Upgraded-Fl ... %7Ciid%3A1

I spoke to the Aussie company and asked how the two versions compared. They told me that their transponder and remote board are genuine whereas the chinese version is *likely* to be aftermarket. I asked them what they defined as genuine as the remote board wont be from subaru (making that assumption as the button layout is different to the standard key so it can't be the same board) and they didnt give me a direct answer, they just restated that "the transponder and remote board are genuine". Not sure if they just want me to buy from them or if there is actually a difference.

I noticed that the Aussie key says the transponder is 434MHz and the Chinese key says 433MHz but I think the true frequency is 433.92MHz so its probably a rounding error. However I am willing to sacrifice the valet key for its internals as I will have the normal key as a backup and the new key as my everyday key.

For either option I will still have to get the key cut and programmed.

Does anyone have any experience or input?

If the ebay links go down i will fix them as soon as i can

Did you read over the flip key threads?
They explain the schema, options and pricing.
