Low rev when idling

Postby Scoobydoo421 » Wed Mar 14, 2018 7:14 pm

I have a 2010 Liberty 2.5i Premium (Sat) sedan.
The Liberty used to stall when idling prior to torque converter refurbishment. 3 months have passed and I am noticing that when idling with the A/C on there will be regular times that the revs will drop down and cause a small shudder (pre-stall) which lasts for 2-5secs then the engine will increase idling revs to normal range with no shudder. This will repeat every 15-25secs.

What causes this? Is this torque converter-related?
Is there a way to increase idling revs via transmission computer system?
A Subaru technician informed me that this issue can't be solved.

The ecu should account for AC load/idle adjust.
What was the original issue with your auto box?
Was it just related to the idle issue, and was the issue worse after the reco?

Rough guess you may have an inlet vac leak either before or after the throttle body, a dirty throttle plate or possibly an issue with the variable valve timing control if that’s relevant to your car/model.

Have you been using Subaru upper engine cleaner & fuel additive?
You’d want to take care of the basics first like making sure the battery, sparkplugs, fuel pump etc are healthy, retrieve codes, log and lv the car, clean the maf gently with crc maf cleaner, reseat the maf in its oring properly and of course google around the issue.
