accelerator maxed

Postby hectickmind » Sun Dec 17, 2017 7:30 pm

Drove my dirty outback through a river too quick, now it revs itself out, like the cable is stuck on! the cable isn't the issue though as it works fine.
I've unplugged the top 3 plugs that go into the throttle body. had no effect and car still revs out.
I've been driving it in 4-5th gear with the brakes on to keep it at 60km. And turning the car off and holding the clutch in once there's a down hill or it wants to go faster than set speed limit, than releasing the clutch to start it again and speed back up. Google forum search was no help!
any suggestions, besides burning the car and claiming insurance, is welcome.

Remove airbox and take a peek. I suspect throttle plate is stuck open. Perhaps u short/burned the motor. See if you can move the butterfly ever so gently. With harness plugged in and ignition on, pressing the accelerator should make it move. Also check all fuses. Get it sorted properly. Last thing you want is a throttle sticking open when you least expect it

Spot on with the air box suggestion mate! Filter got wet and sucked into the throttle body. Pretty stoked it was a cheap fix. Thanks again for the reply

Small creek. Decided to drive through it quicker than normal as Mt mum was in the car and scares easy. Bit embarrassing starting the car and having it almost full throttle stuck on. I drive through 3 of these creeks to get home every day, hence the need for an outback
