Postby Gez97r » Wed Nov 01, 2017 12:30 pm

Alright lads so I've done a headgasket (no surprise round here...) Just wondering wether I should have the head tested to see if it is warped or damaged at all info appreciated !

If you are removing the heads yourself, do the inital rudimentary tests with a straight edge and feeler gauges to determine the initial condition/flatness of the heads (and block).

Thing is though had it pressure tested and there is a leak in cyl1 and its pumping coolant out the overflow under decent load so I'm thinking its definitely more than just the thermostat, I just don't want to have to spend 2k and send it to all drive subie if its not completely necessary ya know !

I would take the heads to a machine shop and ask them to resurface them.

I used to work at a suby dealership and they would always get that done. Otherwise expect the issue to return soon after you do the job.
