tail lights.

I cannot find much on this forum about wire colours for taillights. My scenario is pretty simple, I bought some LED lights that contain some blue LED's and because it is illegal to have blue lights I need to fix it. For me to fix it I need some form of diagram for the tail lights as in which coloured wire does what? I do believe the red wire is light that comes on when you switch your lights on. But I need to be certain.
