Liberty GT steering wheel compatibility?

Postby liparus » Tue Feb 07, 2017 1:35 pm

Hola,

I have a 2008 Liberty GT with a damaged steering wheel.
Even if I have both VINs, Subaru or anyone for that matter cannot tell me what wheels are compatible.
I'm not fussy and just want an undamaged wheel.
Surely the same shaped wheel across 4th gens is not too difficult a swap?
Was hoping someone out there knows :)

I would try to stay within post facelift, other than that I don't see how it wouldn't fit.

Do you have a link for the wheel you're buying?

Well following DAMD's site, looks like 'A-C' models are different to 'D onwards'

I'm guessing 'D' is post facelift?

That's correct A-C Prefacelift, D-F Postfacelift. In Japan it's what's know as the Applied Code which can be found on your VIN Plate and bill look something like BP5AXX for a prefacelift wagon. A postfacelift sedan will be BL9DXX. The P & L are wagon and sedan respectively and the 5 is the 2.0 and 9 the 2.5. A 3.0 will have an E in place of the 5 or 9. Don't get the Applied Code mixed up with the VIN as they both start with the BP5 etc desigination for the vehicle but the letter following is often different.

I PMd Liparus this but thought to share -

I bought this leather cover from Ebay and stitched it on myself - no need to remove steering wheel(or controls). Just a little patience and a coupla brews to get it done. For around $60 delivered. give the wheel a nice thicker sports wheel feel, and matches the GTB leather seats perfectly.

Looks good mate. Much cheaper than a new wheel and you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself...and a reason to enjoy some brews.

Can you remember the company you bought this from?
