Intake Protection for Cross-State drive

Hi all,

Soon I'll be attempting to drive from Perth to Sydney in the lib and I was wanting peoples suggestions for protecting both the hood scoop intercooler intake and front grill from bugs / birds etc. I was thinking about getting a large piece of fly wire and somehow clipping it over the hood but wondered if there was a more elegant way.

Open bonnet, remove intercooler air channeler, put flywire between it and bonnet, refit.

What about the front intake, worth fly wiring that too or don't bother?

Probably crucial if you are hitting bulk locusts or a lot of bugs (which you may well do given recent rains).
Quick and dirty: buy a cheap roll of polyester-fiberglass fly wire - non scatchy - cut out panels to cover your openings and simply tape it in place with duct tape. Shouldn't damage any of your paint that way.

When you stop, check the blockage factor and scrape off the bulk, if it gets really bad, tear it off and replace with new sections if you take some spare fly wire, tape and scissors.
