2007 Outback 2.5i Head Gasket Issue

Postby grey07outback » Mon Jan 02, 2017 2:16 pm

Hi All

I’ve replaced both the head gaskets on my 2007 MY08 outback 2.5i, there was a leak from the passenger rear, now I’ve got a leak coming from both the tops of the heads in the middle point.

Followed the factory torques sequence.

Just seeking some help in understanding what I’ve done wrong here to cause this – wondering if the head gaskets have been put on the wrong side facing outwards. I didn’t find your posts on the MLS head gaskets until after having replaced with the genuine Subaru normal ones.

Did you get the heads checked for cracks and ensure they were flat at a machine shop?

I'm going to get the heads off and then take them for an inspection - I tried to check for level at home however not sure on the accuracy of the straight edge that I used.

Looks like its off by the outcome of the HG replacements....will update as I find out the answer
