How do I replace the 02 and A/F sensor in my 2003 (MY04) GT

Postby dominant88 » Wed Sep 14, 2016 2:39 pm

So I am having bit of trouble finding a guide to replace the sensors before and after the cat in my car. If anyone can point me in the direction of a guide or give me a basic explanation that would be great.

So far the quotes I have seem to around $900 for the two sensors plus labor. Has anyone used these sensors from sparesbox? Are they the two sensors that I need to replace? It almost seems to good to be true at that price compared to genuine.

Thanks.

Get a genuine front af sensor from partsouq japanparts or G88 and get a tune that deletes the rear sensor from ThrottleHappy aka kido or eg torqued performance.
The Prefl front sensor is in the dump bellmouth iirc, engine cover off and use a slotted socket specifically for the job.
Postfl is in the headers pre turbo, I diyed mine as above :)

Intriguing, mine is hooked up but the cel for cat inefficiency is deleted, iirc: I'll have to check with Matt for details. All I know is that when I got a new front sensor, replacing the rear sensor was advised as not required... Eg it had little bearing on the state of tune health.

Either way, genuine sensors based on oe part #'s are always recommended, having said that, more affordable generic denso part numbers are available very affordably on eg Amazon, but model specific compatibility is still somewhat of an unknown quantity, thus I went genuine from the most affordable source... For peace of mind :)

And there's plenty of 2.0t threads on the subject here. Jfgi, site specific with keywords.

Punch a p/n into Amazon and you'll see the relevant socket list as frequently bought together, I borrowed one from my local garage... :)

Just use the link I posted above and replace keyword 2.0t with 3.0 or 3.0r etc.
