Louder induction sound [pod filter?]

Hey guys, I own a 2005 Liberty GT manual.

I'm looking to make the induction sound a bit louder for that sweet woosh effect. My mechanic said you can just slap a pod filter on no worries, but after pulling out the stock airbox I found that the MAF sensor is inbuilt into the housing.

So what's the go? Should I just take to the housing with a hacksaw and keep the MAF in the same pipe/location and add piping off the end to the pod filter or is there a better alternative?

Cheers.

That's what I'm thinking. I've heard if you move the sensor to a different location/pipe diameter that causes issues too.
Guess i'll chop it.

You'll want to get it tuned either way.
Cai is not reqd till well over 200wkw, maybe consider a 50/50 bov and a tune?

Old(ish) thread I know, but I removed the intake silencer on my Gen 4 (Non GT) which is a white box slightly larger than the air box and sits in the bumper below the air box. In removing the silencer, I gained a noticeably louder induction sound with a real nice tone.
