Seeking anyone with a similar experinece...

I've never enjoyed the 3.0RB seats - too slippery and not enough bolstering for my getting-heavier-by-the-day 105kg 189cm frame. I've come across a set of (wrx) STi front seats in good condition. Less slippery and more side bolstering basically.

The STi seats do have the side airbag (same as the 3.0RB seats). But in terms of rails and connections I'm trying to work out what it'd take. Any suggestions on how long this piece of string is?

Will fit right up but you'll need to swap airbag plugs from your old seats to the new seats, or swap both body and seat plugs to something aftermarket eg from any wreck or Ebay.
It's a 2 pole plug but has extra locking for safety.
I'd be checking the polarity of the wires using the respective FSMs or ask around to be sure.

Googling this part: "swap airbag plugs from your old seats to the new seats". Going to speak with local workshop(s) about it but at least you've helped me frame the conversation with them

Simple job assuming both plugs can be made to match, eg body side plugs from donor car...
