Bucket seats/ seat mount advice

Postby veloce » Wed Apr 13, 2016 4:32 pm

Hey everyone,

I own a 2007 Spec B which I have started to track. I am quite tall with a long torso, meaning that my seating position is quite compromised on the track. The only way I fit is to have my seat reclined back quite far, meaning that my hands are too far from the steering wheel. I have a set of Sparco Juniors under the house which can be bottom mounted and am toying with the idea of bolting them into my Liberty to solve my problems.

Has anyone had experience with putting bucket seats into your Liberty's? And if so how much headroom did you find?
Any information on where to buy seat mounts in Australia would also be appreciated. I believe that we can use the mounts from the 2008-2014 WRX/STi in our cars.

Cheers in advance,
Luke

Yep GR/GH mounts fit. Expect to pay 200-400 for a set.
Revzone & garage 88 all sell boreedo etc so should have mounts otherwise Google GR STi sparco mounts eg...
Have you pulled the steering wheel all the way out?

Thanks for that! I'll give them both a call. Yep steering wheel is all the way out. My theory is that a bucket seat will make me sit lower and more upright, and hence solve both of my issues. However I would probably then need to sit further back to have adequate leg room. We'll soon find out. There's always the option of a steering wheel spacer, but I'd imagine that they'd be a health risk with an airbag in the steering wheel.

Both seat and steering airbags can be deleted using a resistor or diode.
Personally I'd go for a recaro w/ airbag, specr recaros w/airbag, or a bride or edirb throne w/ deletes...

So a GR sti seat is effectively "plug and play" with the spec B Liberty? (air bags and all?)

Except the seat airbag plug which needs to be swapped body side to GR type or BP/BL type seat side.
