I've found manually locking and unlocking from the door buttons inside the car to help when my remote stops responding.

Did you spin, unwind, reseat properly etc the clockspring?
Did you get the steering wheel harnesses all plugged in properly inc the ground?
Does the internal lockout switch lock/unlock all doors?
Can you read your error codes via obdii?

No codes but maybe i done something wrong with the clockspring as you said as i put steering wheel lock on when i was trying to undo the nut holding the wheel on...

And the remaining questions?
Personally I'd google your issue and or go over the reinstall to make sure you put it back together properly.
What's your battery volts with the car off?

Was the battery disconnected during the steering wheel swap?
Maybe check both cabin and engine bay fuses as there may be a related fuse (eg central locking)

I don't think you could have upset the remote locking even if you destroyed the clock spring. Have you tried disconnecting the battery again, leaving it off for a few minutes, reconnect and retest? Sometimes memory gets screwed up . If that doesn't work, and if the central lock works with the button at the door switches, you could try removing the drivers kick panel, find the two single pin connectors, connect them, hold the switch on the door in the unlock position, press any remote button twice. Door locks should cycle. Disconnect kick panel connectors and see. If that works, you'll have to do all remotes.

I remember reading somewhere on here that there was a micro switch inside the ignition barrel that detected when the key was in the barrel and disabled the keyless entry.
This switch gets stuck in position so it always reports that the key is in the barrel.
Can't remember how to fix it though sorry

try holding down the unlock or lock for 10 sec.
Sorts mine out when it loses its way.
