Central Locking not working on Rear Doors

Hi,

I just got a 2005 (MY06) 2.5i Liberty with Safety Pack, and the central locking is not working on both rear doors. Simply nothing happens using either the remote control buttons or central locking control on the driver's door. They can only be locked and unlocked by manually moving the lock latch on the inside. Child locks are turned off.

I'm not all that technical, but have read in some threads that there can be problems with the door locking 'actuators' on older models, but they're usually specific to single doors and the fact both rear doors aren't responding to inputs at all suggests there could be an issue with a circuit.

Would anyone be able to advise the possibilities and best way to check/get it fixed?

Many thanks,
Tom

The actuator motors are renowned for gumming up and stop working.
Is this your issue?
There are threads how to repair, replace or clean the small electric motor within the Actuator assembly.
The motors also start to go "off" in warmer hot weather.

The rear doors are the easiest to remove the central looking actuator.
Once removed the electrical signal can be tested.

This is the post you want!

You say "I'm not all that technical" If you want it fixed cheaply, please become so! :D

This is the motor you want:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4X-FC-280-w- ... 41977aa6f2

It's got the D shaped shaft that allows the spine to slide right in without any modification.
$12 a pop and 30-60 minutes of your time and you end up feeling like a champion for saving ^$200+ on some other chump doing it for you.

Follow these steps to replace them:
