Replacement dash board?

Postby meadowies » Tue Dec 08, 2015 3:42 pm

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has done or knows how to remove and replace the whole leather dash covering from a MY05 Liberty Wagon.
I have a few dashes from wrecking yards in sight, just want to know if it is possible to do. Bought mine sun cracked!
Also will I have to replace the air bags or anything like that? or possibly (hopefully) just a straight swap.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Of course it can be done, DIY removing one from a wreck will defo start you in the right direction, as will getting intimate with your cars FSM (service procedures) and eg Opposed Forces (parts list & diagrams).
The main thing would be to not damage your loom etc in the process, so be prepared and take your time.

Maybe ask Nathan here who just did a complete swap inc dash.

It's not leather but a textured vinyl rubber thing :)

thanks for your help. do you know if it would be possible to just remove the leather covering and not have to actually touch any of the electronics/wires etc

Unfortunately no, it's all one piece - but they aren't too difficult to remove. They do have some wires attached and a few you have to unplug but you could knock it over in a few hours.

You should pull your battery neg and hold down the break for a minute before working on any cars airbags.
See the FSM for specifics on installation procedures.

Just make sure the battery is off before you go unplugging air bags and you'll be fine.
