Any idea what S-On / s-Off is?

So I found the other day that when my car is in accessories mode (only in accessories mode), and I press the trip counter button on my instrument cluster, toggle to trip b then press again it comes up with S-on or S-off. Having no idea what this is, I changed it by holding the button. I can't find what it does however, and Google cannot help me. Any ideas? 05 gen 4 manual. Cheers guys.

It has to do with how the speedo and tacho needles respond when you start the car.
In one setting they will spin to full scale and back when starting.
In the other setting they will remain stationary.
