Ej20 swap

Postby Jake.h71 » Thu Jul 09, 2015 9:39 pm

Hey everyone
My gen 4 liberty gt is starting to knock -.- slowly planning an engine swap haha
Just curious if anyone knows the exact differences between ej20's, for example I'm looking at a 2011 ej20 out of an impreza. What sort of modification if any would b needed for the swap?
Thanks in advance for anyone who can provide any info.

Cheers jake

Check in with Matt McLeod (at Kido_Tune),

He tunes all of these engines and would have a good understanding of what differences there are and what the Liberty Gen4 GT ECU can support and what the WRX motor requires.
He may even be able to give the final product a tune (or better still, and E85 tune). Sweet!

The WRX EJ20 is lower compression - it will 100% need a retune. You're also much better using an 08+ STi engine - they are very similar. The WRX engine I think only has intake AVCS

Thanks guys
In regards to the engine it has taken a turn for the worst -.- it's more banging at the door rather then knocking so I might have to do something sooner than I thought.
I have sourced an entire lib gt so compatibility might not be an issue.
Thanks again guys for your help

Cheers jake

You seem to be missing some important research.
The preface 2.0t engine is way more reliable than the 2.5t regardless of klm.
It’s also davcs not savcs meaning major compatibility issues with wrx 2.5t into prefl gt.
